Darjeeling - People
Darjeeling is inhabited by people belonging to following ethnic groups
:Lepchas; known as ‘Squatters’, they are of Mongoloid origin, Nepalese;
immigrants from Nepal they are the dominant people in region and are
further divided into different castes, Newars; the original inhabitants of
Nepal valley and Bhutias; further divided into Tibetan, Bhutanese, Dharma
and Sikkimese.
